Many people don't realize this, but there are ways you can handle your enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). After i visited the doctor and was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, I was so relieved that it was not cancer of the prostate, I left the office with out even asking basically could re-shrink it or manage it or perhaps if there were complications due to this condition..

With a few research, I found I could not shrink it, but I could manage it to prevent complications that may derive from an enlarged prostate.

Complications From Enlarged Prostate

Here are a few complications you are able to develop from having an enlarged prostate:

   Bladder Stones
   Bladder Damage
   Urinary Tract Infection
   Kidney Damage

These complications are a direct consequence of not being able to properly relieve urine from your bladder. So it's important to concentrate on ensuring you properly relieve yourself all the time.

Helping My Enlarged Prostate

The main things I changed in my life mainly centers on changing my diet from totally junk foods to natural foods.

Here is what I changed within my life to help me manage my enlarged prostate:

Meat- Instead of eating red meats full of fatty foods, I started to eat more poultry and fish. These provide unsaturated fats and essential fatty acids to my prostrate and also the remainder of my body system. This type of diet allows my cells to become more fluid allowing them to absorb nutrients and discharge wastes easier.
Whole Grains- My wife has started feeding me more whole grains. Wholegrain can now be based in the type of not only breads, however, you are now able to get pasta, taco shells and other such items in wholegrain form.
Alcohol and Coffee- To ensure a healthier prostate, I also needed to reduce my consumption of alcohol and occasional. I did not completely eliminate these two but simply cut back.
Exercise- I started to workout more by doing weight and cardio-vascular training.
Vegetables-. It is important to eat vegetables especially tomatoes. Tomatoes have lycopene, which has been shown to be beneficial to your prostate.

The results were impressive. My prostate specific antigen (PSA) has gone from 5.8 ng/ml to 4.8 ng/ml that indicates my enlarged prostate has improved. The main thing I am happy with is the fact that I haven't had the complications in the above list.
